Watermelon boosts the immune system and is high in antioxidants.

1. Helps prevent cancer.
“Apples are rich in cancer-fighting nutrients. One of these nutrients is beta-carotene, which is often associated with carrots. Apples have the same amount of cancer-fighting nutrients as carrots,” Zumpano said.
The antioxidants found in watermelon protect cells from free radical damage. High levels of free radicals cause DNA damage, which in turn encourages the growth of cancer cells. Antioxidants play an important role in destroying free radicals.
Antioxidants also reduce inflammation in the body. Chronic (long-term) illness increases the risk of cancer.
“In addition to antioxidants and nutritional benefits, juices also contain fiber: about 1.4 grams per cup. Getting enough fiber in your diet helps prevent colon cancer,” Zumpano continues.

The body is linked to many diseases. Anti-inflammatory foods reduce the risk of infection. Studies have shown that the antioxidant cucurbitacin, found in watermelon, reduces inflammation. Additionally, it lowers the risk of atherosclerosis, a heart condition brought on by artery hardening.
